Association of Liberian Construction Contractors

A Brief History ALCC

The Association of Liberian Construction Contractors (ALCC) was organized in 1979 to harness the potential of its members towards the greater good of themselves in particular and the nation in general. A particular critical historical moment in 1979 was the convening of the 16th annual summit of the Organization of African Unity, OAU (now African Union, AU) in Liberia, and the many construction works that were taking place without adequate participation of local construction contractors. Consequently, Liberian civil works contractors saw the need to strengthen their presence in the country leading to full participation in all civil works contracts including those that were taking place in preparation for the OAU conference, as more than US $25 million was being spent on the construction of a conference center, a hotel complex and other facilities to house the delegates. Since its founding, the Association has been working to deliver its core responsibilities to members.

December 2017 ushered in a new era when a new management team was elected under the presidency of Engr. Sackie Johnson, and the Association began to experience positive changes in its organizational development. Consequently, ALCC new management team embarked upon a self – improvement initiatives with technical support of GIZ ‘Capacity Development in the Transport Sector’ Project.  A concise 5-year strategic plan was prepared encompassing 5 strategic objectives/ pillars.
