Association of Liberian Construction Contractors

Construction contractors operating in Nimba County have reaffirmed their commitment to working with contract-awarding entities and GOL officials to build capacity and improve regulatory compliance.

The contractors called for sustained dialogue, increased awareness of the ALCC Act, and greater support for local contractors to meet national standards and contribute to Liberia’s infrastructure development. The contractors made the commitment in Sanniquelle City recently at a one-day construction stakeholders engagement meeting, which brought together key players in the construction sector in Nimba County.

ALCC President Mr. Sackie G. Johnson, at the head of a high-power delegation, told the gathering that strengthening local capacity and improving coordination among all actors will remain top priorities during his stewardship as president of the association.

Mr. Johnson, giving an overview, emphasized that the legislation of the association aims to enhance professionalism, ensure quality assurance, and protect both contractors and clients in the industry.

Mrs. Johnson stressed that the primary focus of the gathering was the ALCC legislation and its potential impact on construction contractors and development partners operating in Nimba County.

The participants engaged in extensive dialogue on how the legislative framework would shape the future of construction in Liberia, particularly Nimba County.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Dean of Engineering College and Geo-Science, Emmanuel Doseahn of Nimba University, lauded the ALCC legislation, saying this is a welcoming effort to formalize and regulate the sector.

Other participants also cautioned the leadership of the ALCC about the implementation of compliance burdens by contractor awarding entities who are in total violation of the laws of Liberia and should be made to respect the ALCC Act.
