(Monrovia, Liberia, Thursday April 3, 2025), the Minister of Public Works, says 25% of the project value in local content Toe Town-Ivory Coast Road Corridor World Bank funded project, has been approved to be awarded to Liberian contractors.
Minister Giddings explained that Liberians owned construction Companies that would be considered for the project awards should be capacitated and that the names of the companies that are in readiness will be submitted to foreign firms for vetting.
The Public Works Minister made the assertion recently at a regular monthly coordination meeting at the Ministry of Public Works.
Minister Giddings welcoming the ALCC delegation pointed out the meeting provided the opportunity for ALCC and MPW to identify key areas of concern aimed at strengthening Construction policies, the primary purpose of the Contracting maximum professionalism and growth in the Liberia Construction Industry.
He further highlighted that Liberians owned companies are currently opportune as they are now participating in work contracts awarded by the Government of Liberia.
The Minister also cautioned that local construction companies should form a united front to develop the requisite professional and technical capacities for efficiency and productivity.

Construction Contractors now done electronically, as such training opportunities are available for Liberian construction contractors to clearly understand the process.
He also disclosed that two companies’ contracts were terminated for performance failure.
He named the two companies as Reburse Group of Companies and One Chinese company.
At the same time, the President of the ALCC, Sackie Johnson, indicated that a lease agreement initiated with equipment rental group, has been drafted and expected to be signed.
He said the K-Land Trading Corporation in partnership with ALCC, will enhance the capacity of the construction Contractor road works.
Mr. Sackie Johnson. stressed that the leadership of ALCC is working closely with the Ministry of Public Works in the interest of its members to secure contracts from the Government of Liberia, which has now culminated in this mile stone local content benefit arrangement.
