Association of Liberian Construction Contractors

Paynesville, Liberia – The Association of Liberia Construction Contractors (ALCC) convened its members and stakeholders for a general assembly. 

During the ALCC general assembly held at the Crown Hotel in Paynesville, President Johnson Sackie presented a comprehensive report detailing the organization’s accomplishments during the period of July 2024 to present and outlining strategic goals for the future.

In his opening remarks, Sackie extended warm greetings to all attendees, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support and dedication to the advancement of the construction sector in Liberia. 

He highlighted the successful passage of the ALCC Act in 2023, a landmark achievement that has established a regulatory framework for the construction industry, ensuring accountability and transparency among contractors.

“Today, we stand at a crucial juncture in our journey,” Sackie stated. “The ALCC Act has not only empowered us as contractors but has also enhanced our credibility in the eyes of the government and the public. This is a testament to our collective efforts and commitment to fostering a robust construction environment in Liberia.”

Among the key achievements discussed were the groundbreaking of the Gateway Vocation Training Center (GVTC), aimed at equipping young Liberians with essential skills for the construction industry. The center is expected to play a vital role in addressing the skills gap and promoting employment opportunities in the sector.

Sackie also announced that the Ministry of Public Works has formally agreed to allow the ALCC to enter into Memorandums of Understanding with equipment rental companies. This initiative will facilitate road construction licenses for contractors, significantly improving access to necessary machinery and resources for ongoing projects.

In addition to these developments, the President shared exciting news regarding the construction of the ALCC National Headquarters, which will be situated on ALCC-owned property in Bensonville City. This new facility is anticipated to serve as a hub for training, collaboration, and advocacy, further solidifying the ALCC’s role in the industry.

President Sackie highlighted the importance of continuous engagement with government entities and stakeholders to address the challenges faced by the construction sector. He highlighted upcoming initiatives focused on raising awareness about best practices and the importance of adhering to the provisions of the ALCC Act.

As the meeting concluded, Sackie reaffirmed the ALCC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence within the construction industry. He called upon all members to remain united in their efforts to promote sustainable development and enhance the quality of construction in Liberia.
