Association of Liberian Construction Contractors

The President of the ALCC has outlined multiple gains made by the ALCC in recent time.

Mr. Sackie G. Johnson highlighted the enactment of the Association of Liberian Construction Contractors (ALCC) by the National legislature as a miles stone achievement.

Mr. Johnson also name the establishment and operations of the GVTC, which is situated in Bentol City, Montserrado County in collaboration with the ALCC as another significant progress.

He explained that the GVTC is intended to prepare middle level technicians including electricians, mechanics, plumbers, road technicians among others.

President Sackie G. Johnson encouraged Construction Contractors to take advantage of the GVTC by enrolling to gain relevant skills, which would enable them to contribute to the development of their lives.

In his report to the ALCC General Assembly, Mr. Johnson indicated that the MPW decision regarding the ownership of equipment to obtain CCCS Certificate remains unchanged.

He further disclosed that the ALCC leadership has initiated arrangement with equipment owners to secure a MOU for equipment rental to road Contractors, who are in need.

Mr. Johnson also told Local Contractors that the MPW has finally written partners to reflect 20% local content in all Contracts to be awarded to foreign companies in Liberia.

Touching on challenges faced by Liberian contractors, Mr. Johnson pointed at the gross lack of access by local contractors to Clusters and ALCC representation to effectively, coordinate its decentralization programs or initiatives.

He also named challenges of meeting partners and stakeholders to fully comply with ALCC provisions of the ALCC Act for Contract opportunities, lack of rightful representation during Bid training of member of Companies, mobility for inspection in the field, as well as the recovery of lost timeline to implement management agenda.
